Hello there! Welcome to my blog. As you may have figured out from the title, I will be studying abroad in New Zealand this coming semester. I have been thinking about studying abroad for a while now, a few years to be more exact, and i'm incredibly excited that it is actually happening! Now, you may ask, "Why New Zealand?" Well, I've always had a fascination with the country, and the pictures I have seen have been beautiful. I also love hiking, and sheep, and hopefully i'll be doing a lot of hiking and seeing a lot of sheep. And, I hear that The Hobbit is being filmed while i'm there. Excitement!
Anyways, I will be leaving on June 30th, first stopping in San Francisco, where I will meet up with Julia and Gaia, two of my friends who will also be studying in New Zealand this semester. Then the three of us will then fly to Auckland and then Dunedin. Coincidentally, all three of us are also on the same flight back in December.
I will be blogging, hopefully weekly-ish, sharing stories of my travels, day to day life, and people i've met. Expect lots of pictures, once I figure out how to put them up as I am very new to blogging. And for people who know me well, I rarely put pictures on Facebook, but i'll try to get out of that habit and put pictures on Facebook too, where I actually know how to put them up.
I also wanted to take my first blog to thank some people who are making my trip possible:
My family - for letting me go and supporting me
Friends - for keeping me company while I went crazy applying for my visa and such
Dakota Fisher-Vance - for her incredible stories and answering all of my questions
Dean Cann and the Office of International Programs - for guiding me through the application process and beyond
Dean Heyduk - for helping me plan for study abroad since freshman year
CS and East Asian/ Chinese Departments - for going through the course guide with me and approving classes
Thank you.
More to come soon... as packing and pre-registration will commence shortly
