Summer has finally arrived and I am also finished with exams! After my last exam on Monday I ventured out to a beach with Tucker, Brian (Tucker's friend from Denver who is studying in Christchurch), Sophie and Kevin. Sophie and I went swimming in the ocean and it was great. The water was a bit chilly to begin with but once you went all the way in it wasn't cold anymore, especially when you were on the beach because then you felt even warmer. Sophie and I tried body surfing but weren't too good at it. I would jump into a big wave and then basically hit the sand and then float to the surface again. There wasn't much surfing. After swimming we stopped at Subway for dinner before returning to the Lofts where we began our Halloween festivities which was watching scary movies. I'm usually terrified of horror movies but the three that we watched were okay. We watched Quarantine, Case 39, and Strangers.

| Kinga and I before the races |
On Tuesday morning I woke up and got dressed for the horse races we were going to that day. We had breakfast at Flat 1 where there were delicious croissants with brie and tomato and mimosas. Then we all headed over to Starters Bar to catch our bus to go to the Melbourne Cup, which was in Mosgiel. When we arrived we all got a free drink a food. We saw some horses and some of the people in our group who bet on horses actually won some money. It was pretty cool. The races was an interesting experience for me because I had never been to a horse race but the day was really long and because it was cloudy it was also really cold. We finally arrived at home at around 7 where I took a long hot shower and then went to watch Disturbia and Momento. Today, I am heading up to Wellington with Julia and tomorrow we are taking the Overlander train from Wellington to Auckland. We will be stopping in Mordor! We are meeting up with Victoria and Stephanie in Auckland and then road tripping around the northland (the area north of Auckland). More to come soon!
